Read the contents of this site, if you are getting problem with delivery notifications and outgoing mails on RCN mail account. If you able to send the message within the same server but getting the problem in sending it to another, then you must pay kind attention to the page.
Check the firewall
Check the firewall settings available on your computer. If the firewall is enabled by default on your computer, then it may block some email accounts due to a security issue. Disable Firewall for some time and try sending the mail again.
Check the port number set by default for your RCN mail account. If you are using the wrong port number for SMTP settings, then you may not be able to send a message to the email addresses. If you are getting a welcome message on the screen but getting the problem in connecting to the host, then it means Proxy servers are disabled on SMTP.
If the message sent from the server is still not delivered to the receiver, then there is a need to check the DNS settings and email address you have entered in the ‘To’ space. To check the possible problem or diagnoses, you can open the Debug or activity log from the RCN mail account.
The information in all aspects like domain and relay settings will be displayed on the screen. You can analyze the information and link it with DNS report link.
If your RCN mail servers keep on refusing the connection, then you will find a problem in sending the message to the recipient. You can troubleshoot the issue by opening the activity log. Here, you will find the list of errors or issues that pertain to the refused connection. This problem generally occurs if the IP address is not present or the PTR record is unavailable.
Delivery delay notifications
If you are coming across such issue, then you can contact RCN support in this regard. The support team will help you in fixing the problem with the best troubleshooting steps. If the problem is still infuriating you, then open activity log or mail log. A detailed summary of the issue can be checked from there.
If the sender address you have entered in the field is blocked by your server, then this can be the reason behind the problem. You need to check the SMTP outgoing queue for the RCN account. Debug entries from the account and club them to get desired results for diagnosis.
Client Relay settings
The message may not get delivered to the desired destination if there is a problem with the relay settings. The reasons for incorrect relay settings are:
- SMTP relay settings.
- Incorrect username and password.
- Account authentication problem.
- Allow authenticated senders.
When you select the option which says ‘Allow relay for authenticated senders’ for your RCN account, then you will be able to forward the message to the active username clients. From then, you can send the messages to the non-local clients without any hassle. The outgoing mail can only be delivered if the SMTP authentication is properly done.
If you have installed any program like Microsoft outlook or outlook express, then you can enable SMTP authentication from ‘My servers require authentication’. Click on the box given next to the option. By enabling this, you can get rid of outgoing mail delivery issue. To bypass Username and password, click on ‘Privilege IP’.
