If you are using a Frontier mail, then configuring mail with IMAP or POP settings doesn’t lead to any issue because you don’t require sync function for it.
However, if you have configured the same mail on more than one device, then you have to sync the inbox on all devices. This is possible with IMAP settings. If you have a POP type email account, then you have to switch it to IMAP for instant sync of emails. The steps to change the settings from POP to IMAP are given here as under:

In general, we think that switching of the frontier email account from POP to IMAP type is as simple as it sounds but it’s not so. You have to first check whether the email server supports IMAP or not. If not, then there is no need to process further. If the email server supports, then keep the password of your email account in hand. The password is mandatory for proceeding further into the Frontier mail settings.
Backup: In order to stay away from future regrets, you must take back up of all data and settings of your existing email account type. So, that you can easily retrieve in case of any problem. You can take backup on your computer or in a laptop.
IMAP settings: First of all, you need to identify the IMAP settings for your ISP or mail server company. It means the incoming and outgoing server addresses, port numbers, other options, and authentication type.
Add IMAP account: Open frontier mail program and select the option where you find ‘Add a new IMAP account’ in order to go through the existing mail account. There might be chances that some of the program servers may not provide the complete information about the Frontier mail address.
Test server access: After performing the above-mentioned step, you need to ensure the messages in your draft, inbox, sent items folder after configuring the IMAP settings in your account.
Test by sending and receiving: You can check your mail with new account settings by sending and receiving any new message in the inbox folder. If the recipient is receiving the message successfully, then it means the settings are successfully configured. Moreover, deleting the message from one device will delete the message from all devices.
Copy messages: Now, you need to do one additional steps i: e to copy all the messages from POP inbox to IMAP inbox manually. You can do drag-drop operation on this.
Create custom folder: If you have created any custom folders in your POP type frontier account, the same needs to be created in IMAP account type. You can create a custom folder very easily. If you want, you can copy the same folder as it is from POP to IMAP.
While copying the messages, the dates may get changed on IMAP server. If you want to change, you can do later.
Stop using POP: When you have successfully integrated IMAP settings on your Frontier account, you are to close the POP settings now. You can deactivate the POP settings for Frontier mail account from any of the device.
